Civil War Museum

We went to the Civil War Museum and attended a theater event. A wonderfully, fabulous lady played the part of Cordelia Harvey. She was fascinating. We all learned a lot. Cordelia Harvey's husband was the Governor of Wisconsin but he died a few months into his term. Cordelia then was appointed to the U.S. Sanitary Commission representing Wisconsin. She gave support to the wounded and sick soldiers. She was eventually able to convince President Lincoln for the need to allow the sick soldiers to return home to recover. Hospitals were established in the North for the soldiers. We learned a lot about the conditions during the war and how terrible they were.
