This is a book on the Amish - specifically a group that is part of the Old Order Amish. I thought it was very well done. The story is about Moriah who marries Levi. Shortly after their wedding, Levi decides that the Amish life is not for him and he leave the church and Amish community. His wife is pregnant at the time. It was a very hurtful thing Levi did but it was amazing how the community embraced Moriah and helped her through the event. The community really lived out God's command to love others as themselves. It is sad though as Moriah is facing a life of never being able to remarry. Divorce for any reason is not allowed in her Amish community and so unless Levi returns she will never have the love of a husband or more children. Moriah is deeply saddened by this.
While I certainly don't condone divorce I do believe that the church should allow divorce in certain extreme situations - such as spousal abuse or infidelity. Moriah does find out later in the book that one of the reasons Levi leaves is not only for the worldly things but for another girl that can offer more of the worldly things.
In the book, Moriah really demonstrates forgiveness - while she does struggle with it as it is not easy to forgive this type of betray - she also feels it is what God has called her to do. Some good lessons for all of us.
