We saw the doctor today and after looking at the x-ray he said that Tom is healing well. There is not enough bone growth for him to put any weight on it yet though. Not even a toe touch yet! We expected this. He wound is still seeping just a bit. This is normal for such a major surgery. The doctor does want the wound to be completely closed before Tom is 'released' to go back to work. He thinks that should be at the 6 week mark like we had planned but not sure. He has another doctor's apt. on June 1st. So we shall know more then. If it is closed he might head back on June 2nd. But it all depends on how the healing progresses.
And we probably over did it a bit for Tom today - he is having alot of throbbing now - he does find that anytime he has his foot down and not propped up for an extended period of time --- he pays for it at night with massive throbbing. This too is a concern for heading back to work. Still, two weeks is a long time and lots of healing can take place in that amount of time. From a mental standpoint - Tom would like to be heading back so that his mind is challenged again. He is somewhat going stir crazy.
