Tom - an outing - yah!

Yesterday was a big day for Tom.

He had an outing. I had to make a run to Trader Joe's (Rice milk and Almond Milk for the child allergic to regular milk). Tom decided to tag along. He hobbled out to the car on his crutches. Then when we got to Trader Joe's he used his crutches to get in the store. Trader Joe's had one of those powered carts that are for patrons use. He reluctantly used that --- but it worked fabulous. He got around really well and wasn't too worn out.

Tom finds it a sad reality of his life right now that a trip to Trader Joe's is now a big deal outing. I am just thrilled he got out a bit and that he was up more during the day and slept more at night. It is all good!

Praise the Lord! I'm sure this outing was good for him...probably did a lot to lift his spirits.

yeahhhhhh! and I get it---before 2009 (when we did a BOATLOAD of camping and traveling)---we hardly got out as a family--my husband was too tied up with work and house projects--it got to the point where if he ran and errand, I'd announce the girls and are are going for the car-ride with him--just for a family outing:O

He really enjoyed his outing but we all laughed to think that Trader Joe's was an outing. We used to be far more FUN than that! I am not sure if it is because we are getting older or if it is the surgery --- or a combination of both. But it is just sad, sad, sad! :)
